COVID-19 Mini-Grants

Over the years, Love Your Block has awarded 20 mini-grants, and countless more in-kind resources, to volunteer-based community beautification projects in Richmond, led by your neighbors and local organizations. One of the primary components of the Love Your Block program is to physically bring together groups of residents and community members to volunteer in beautification efforts – and this component has been acutely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have had to suspend our typical Love Your Block activities until further notice, but we could not wait to start working with you again! Now, we want to help you show how you #LoveYourBlock, together while apart in Richmond. We are awarding five (5) mini-grants of up to $500 to volunteer projects that will creatively support Richmond residents affected by COVID-19.

Not sure how you want to help? Here are some examples of projects you can take on:
  • Face mask making and distribution
  • Grocery purchase/delivery to vulnerable residents
  • Grocery or essential items giveaway
  • Installation or stocking of Little Free Libraries
  • COVID-19 temporary public artwork: plywood murals, chalk art campaigns, etc.
  • Virtual community programs, such as virtual paint night and virtual fitness
  • Virtual tour of your neighborhood
